2012 Pretty in Pink 5K

Cape Girardeau, MO -- October 20, 2012 (Results @ Cape Road Runners: (http://www.caperoadrunners.org/results.htm)

Saturday, October 20th was a fantastic day to be outside.  Several hundred people in the local area came out to support the 2012 Pretty in Pink 5K Run/Walk.  The 45 degree temperature, bright sunlight and essentially calm winds added to the crowd's excitement.  This is about as good as it gets for race day conditions.

Zach Young shot to the front of the pack early on as the pack began down Hawthorne Street and "rolled" to an impressive 15:29 finish.

Doug Ambler and Matt Miller wage an epic battle for 2nd overall in the running division and, during the final .05 mile, Doug out-kicks the "youngster" by one second.  The crowd went crazy!

The Cape Road Runners used their Jaguar chip timing system and it worked flawlessly.

This course is flat, accurate and a favorite of many in the local community.  Add the fact that the money goes for a great cause and it should be on every runner's list of events to participate in yearly.
